There is one thing you can say about the building at 450 Park Ave — the people who run it are not modest. The website touts the building as “the zenith of the modernist design movement.” Maybe, maybe not, but it is a pretty cool mid-century building.
Well, it depends on your definition of “mid-century.” The structure, designed by Emery Roth and Sons, was built in the late-1960s and opened in 1972. But its curved windows definitely make it mid-century!
The 33-story building is covered in black granite, which again the website boasts, “is considered, by many, to be the most striking black skyscraper in New York City.
