Market Diner sits at 11th Ave and 43rd St., but standing outside of it, you could be excused for thinking you are in Los Angeles (unless it is winter). The Googie-style building would fit right into the great City of Angels.
The diner opened in 1962 and was a hangout for Frank Sinatra and the Westies gang, to name just a couple of its patrons. The restaurant closed in 2006 but reopened in 2009. Fortunately it was restored instead of renovated, so it retains its original look. If Ol’ Blue eyes were still alive, he would be pleased.
UPDATE 11/14/15:
The Market Diner closed earlier this month so yet another condo building can be built on the site.
